Tom Loves His Team - Issue #45
Hey folks,
I am so proud of the team we've built at DTNS. Some people told me when I began adding folks to go find the biggest stars and hire them. That's what a lot of organization do. That may lead to an all-star team but all-star teams don't always gel asa good squad. Instead I more naturally put together folks who I wanted to work with and who wanted to work us. I found some, and some found me. But the qualification was not only talent but a real desire to make the best tech show we can.
I wasn't building an all-star team, I was building a team that wanted to play together.
And because of that I think we're turning into all-star beaters. This Thursday and Friday you saw that team shine. Thursday, Sarah Lane put together a solid rundown and then the power company thwarted her, preventing her from hosting. But Rich Stroffolino stepped right into those shoes and combined with the consummate professionalism of Justin Robert Young and the erstwhile expertise of Roger, they made a slam dunk of a show.
Friday Sarah's power cooperated and Rich joined in with Patrick Norton this time. Rich delivered a great explanation of poison ill in relation to Twitter. Sarah brought it with a great story on the potential new ways of handling notifications. The kind of story people are constantly asking for. "Why don't you do more stories about future tech?" And then Patrick brought it, with an update on What3Words that had a news hook, reference to previous shows where we've covered it and an amazing rundown of where it is now.
I hope you enjoyed these shows as much as I did even without me on them. I've never been prouder of this team and what it can do. And we're just getting better all the time.
Tom
P.S. Apologies for all the sports metaphors. They just seemed like the right call. Damn. There's another one.
