This Week in Tom Merritt - Issue #75
Hey folks,
My brain is molasses.
Very sweet but also prone to flooding Boston. Or possibly I just mean that it's slow.
I feel like everything is running behind right now. And it's weird because I'm actually doing less. But suddenly I'm behind on the things that were running fine all year long.
Some of it is prep. DTNS is pre-recording special episodes to run over the holidays. We have a Reminiscences episode, where Sarah Lane, Roger Chang and I remember our days at TechTV. And we just finished our "predictions results" show where we bring back folks from last year's predictions show to see how we did. Guess who did the best? (Hint: Not me. Heh) We still have the new predictions show and the Listener Co-Host show to record, and Joe is working on the Best of episode.
Good stuff. We've also been double recording episodes of It's a Thing for the same reason.
So there is more going on but I don't think that's where my molasses brain is coming from. It just feels like everything is taking longer than it used to. Maybe it's because the world opened back up and folks aren't always at home? For a couple years there, the default response fro people was "Well, you'll know where to find me." But more folks are traveling, or just going out to do things, including me. I spent 5 years of my life on Tuesday evening seeing Avatar: Way of Water.
I know I'm not the only one feeling this. Lamarr and I were talking the other day and he brought it up before I did. So maybe it's just a thing with creators? Are you feeling this? Not just the usual holiday rush but like-- a stretching of time or something? Let me know.
NEW DTNS PATREON MERCH
Real quickly I have to give a shout out to Len Peralta for the new DTNS 9 year anniversary art! DTNS IS TURNING NINE ON JAN. 2! We're in 4th grade! Anyway Len made us awesome art to celebrate.
This is going on exclusive merchandise you can only get as a DTNS Patron. For every level but the cheapest, you get a new item every three months you stay a Patreon of DTNS. And every item is different from the last. There are mugs and t-shirts and at the top level a hoodie. You can get it yourself! Check out patreon.com/dtns.
While you check that out, I'm gonna call off work for the day. Have a great weekend y'all!
Cheers,
Tom
