Hey folks,
I’m back from the wilds of Illinois with tales and pictures.
But first! I sent this newsletter too early to include the Top 5 last week, so I have two of them for you!.
First is this week’s which is about my favorite language learning apps.
And last week’s were five ways I can take your password. And of course how you can stop me.
OK, so Thursday afternoon I flew into St. Louis and drove out to Greenville, Illinois. The purpose of the trip was to clean out my Mom’s storage shed which was, sadly, 90% trash. Just things that had been there too long and been ruined, or maybe not worth keeping in the first place. There were also some memories, of course. Many of those I just took pictures of. The remaining 5% went to my sister’s house. And there was a lot of donating of usable items that none of us wanted.
Thursday evening was a lovely trip to Vandalia for dinner at Blind Society, a pub with a prohibition era theme. I had a Manhattan and a view of the old State Capitol.
Friday and Saturday were solid work. Here’s the progression:
Stuff on the left needs to go. Stuff in the middle is donate. Stuff in the back is empty bins. And stuff on the right goes to my sister’s house.
I did find some fun stuff along the way.
Me funny.
I have always been very weird with words.
Star Wars was always important to me.
I have been into BSG for a long time.
My Grandpa Carl made these for my brother.
If only it had worked.
My attempt at making my own baseball card. I was on a little league team called the Quality Gas Pirates.
And I finished the trip with a lovely game of fetch with the awesome Shamus the dog.
Back at it for full DTNS this week of course, And while my muscles are just now over getting sore from all that work, it was wonderful to see my sister and relive a few great memories.
Thanks for sharing them with me!
Talk to you again next week. Or I’ll see you on the internet.
Tom
Great pics & memories!
