Hey folks,
How is it Friday already? Seriously. Who did this?
Well whoever is responsible needs to slow it down. OK? Good.
Meanwhile I’m about to wrap up my week by beginning the 4th version of a series called Top 5.
Back in 2005 I started a short video series at CNET called Top 5. Just a quick series counting down 5 things about tech. I hosted it until I left CNET in 2010, but it kept going there until 2022, hosted by Brian Cooley, Donald Bell and Iyaz Akhtar. Itwas second to East Meets West as the longest-running show that I had started.
But in 2010 I stated doing Tom’s Top 5 for Revision 3. It was a little wider in topic, touching on more than just tech. That lasted a couple of years.
I was Top 5-less for a few years, then in 2014 I started doing a Top 5 for Tech Republic. This one went the other direction, being extremely techy, with a focus on enterprise. I did that one until last year. Come to think of it 2022 was a bad year for Top 5s. Two of mine ended.
But I’m here to try again.
This evening I’m recording the first batch of Top 5s for Daily Tech News Show. These will show up at youtube.com/dailytechnewsshow.
They will start techy, of course, probably most similar to CNET. But they can be whatever we want. So keep an eye out and be sure to let me know what parts you like and want me to keep and what else you might like to see on the show.
Will this be the last Top 5 I ever do?
Actually writing that down makes it feel like a threat.
Let’s just watch them for as long as we can shall we?
Thanks!
Cheers,
Tom

Careful Tom. If you launch a 5th top 5, then do a piece about the top 5 top 5's, Microsoft's punctuation editor will have a meltdown. One misplaced comma and we're doomed.
