Take Tom Merritt's Course on Podcasting

I just got back from getting my dog fitted with a heart monitor. He has to wear it for a day to check his heart health. Because he’s an old man-dog. It’s very cute. It’s a big grey thing wrapped around his middle that says ASEC on it. (Animal Specialty Emergency Center) He looks like a little ATF agent or something. He just keeps wandering around the house saying, “Back up, sir, this is an ASEC operation.”

Also this week, from the inimitable mind of Roger Chang, a tour through the greatest home computer flops of the 1980s. We’ve moved well beyond the Lisa here my friends. This is deep stuff Only watch if you’re prepared.

Oh and did you hear about the guy who had his Twitter account @x taken over by Twitter which is now callign itself X? Well, his name is Gene and he was nice enough to come on DTNS and talk about it.

OK, so the thing I;m most exicted about. I’m teaching a podcasting course!

I really like to make podcasts. You may have noticed that about me. I've been doing it since 2005. And several of you have asked me over the years for tips on making them. I'm always happy to help of course. BUT I can never get across all the things I might want to.

Then it hit me. I was recently taking a course online and realized I could do that too. So Willie Scott (Wscottis1) and I teamed up to create "How to Make a Great Podcast."

Here's the pitch. "In 90 minutes, 18-year podcast veteran Tom Merritt (that's me) shares his secrets for making great content. From research and preparation to compensating for your own blind spots and how to get the best out of co-hosts and guests. You’ll come away with a better understanding of how to set up each episode of your show to be the best. The course will focus on content but you’ll also have a chance to ask Tom for tips on other elements of podcast creation like equipment, production techniques and more."

Sound interesting? Good. I want to do my first run with people who really get what I do. So I'm limiting this first course to just 10 slots. The rate I should charge for this is around $99. But I'm dropping that to $75.
