I’m going to a concert at the Rose Bowl tomorrow and I got a hilarious email from them that almost feels like it’s trying to talk me out of going.
For example. The show starts at 6:30 and the headliner goes on at around 8 PM. The email starts with
Followed by
It then goes on to describe a shuttle service from a remote parking lot. That parking is $30 AND you have to pay $5 to ride the shuttle OR $10 if you don’t buy in advance. Also you pay the parking lot for the shuttle pass separately from paying them for parking.
You can also take the train… which drops you off 15 minutes walk from the shuttle which you have to pay $5 for.
To be honest it feels a little like the email is trying to talk us out of going. There are just too many people.
So now you’re thinking maybe I should just take a Cab or Uber or something.
Yep. After the show you must take the shuttle, the one that is $10 day of, in order to get to a place where the taxi can pick you up.
Then it finally offers to pre-sell you a parking lot at the actual Rose Bowl. But by all accounts those parking lots become almost impossible to get out of after events.
But to be fair, the Rose Bowl has only been open since 1922. I’m sure they’ll figure it out eventually.
MEANWHILE, Here’s a couple things I put out there this week.
Top 5
For about 18 years I’ve been doing one form of Top 5 or another. And one of my favorite things to do with that format is ask folks on the internet what their favorite something is and then look at all those responses and create a Top 5 out of them. So we did that this week with one simple question. ‘What is the greatest video game character of all time?” Granted I will always have a few people question the question. But most of you are more decent humans who play along and answer. So I proudly present the Top 5 Greatest Video Game Characters.
About Word Processors
I can’t believe we’re already into week 3 of Know a Little More! This week’s episode is About Word Processors. The word processor, more than most products, never really got invented. It just slowly evolved from typewriters. But the modern word processor took shape and became popular thanks to a space tourist. Not only did Charles Simonyi visit space twice, you can argue he invented the modern word processor. Twice.
Thanks all! Hope your weekend comes up roses.
